Our STORy

CUB3D is a UK based laser scanning specialist and design engineering consultancy, founded in 2019 by Lee Canny and Nic Curcio. We provide high accuracy 3D laser scanning, surveying, and engineering design support for projects across a range of sectors throughout the UK.

The business was established on a shared commitment to applying advanced technology and engineering expertise to deliver accurate, efficient, and commercially focused solutions. Our approach combines detailed site data capture with practical design engineering, enabling clients to reduce risk, improve decision making, and streamline project delivery.

Lee brings a background in civil engineering with experience in surveying, setting out, and computer aided design (CAD).

Nic’s background is in piping engineering with extensive experience in CAD and 3D laser scanning technologies. Together, they offer a complementary skillset, underpinned by a focus on precision, efficiency, and innovative problem-solving.

Their first collaboration came when Nic engaged Lee to provide CAD support on a project requiring additional resource. This successful partnership highlighted a shared approach to delivering high-quality engineering solutions and led to the formation of CUB3D.

Since its launch, CUB3D has delivered laser scanning, point cloud data capture, and design engineering services for a wide range of projects. We work closely with clients to understand project requirements, identify the most effective solutions, and deliver accurate, reliable outputs aligned with programme and budget.

Today, CUB3D continues to support clients across the UK, providing specialist laser scanning services, spatial data capture, and engineering design support. Our reputation is built on quality, responsiveness, and the ability to deliver efficient, practical solutions in complex project environments.

CUB3D was validated by Achilles, which enabled us to provide support for a local processing plant by delivering high-quality surveying and geospatial services.

2024

Success Sparks Survey in Belgium

After the successful projects undertaken in 2023, CUB3D was asked to return and conduct an additional survey in Belgium, on the opposite side of the main gas pipeline from the UK.

2023

High Profile Client

A major engineering firm requested a Georeferenced 3D laser scan to support their site in Bacton. CUB3D conducted a complete survey of the main gas pipeline running from the UK to Europe.

2022

Supporting LNG to LPG Conversion

A major engineering firm requested a Georeferenced 3D laser scan to support their site in Bacton. CUB3D conducted a complete survey of the main gas pipeline running from the UK to Europe.

2021

Trip to the Falklands

Carried out a cross country laser scan on behalf of our client for the Ministry of Defence again. We then used this data set to design and engineer a 1km long above grade aviation fuel pipeline including multiple buried road crossings.

2020

Trip to Ascension Island

Carried out a number of laser scans on the island for various project work on behalf of our client for the Ministry of Defence. This led to a number of small engineering projects for us including as-built modelling and aviation fuel pipeline design.
